NAMM 2017: New Rydeen and 50th anniversary drum kits, A-Series, Silent Guitar and more from Yamaha

To celebrate 50 years in the business, Yamaha Drums is introducing two limited-edition drumsets.

Yamaha has announced a number of new guitars and drum kits at this year’s Winter NAMM show.

First up, is new Yamaha drumset inspired by Rydeen, The God of Thunder.

The design concept was to create an entry-level drum set that retained Yamaha's renowned durability and capability at its heart. This has been achieved with perfectly round 6 ply Poplar shells, fitted with quality metal parts including a pair of Yamaha’s original Ball Camp Tom Holders which offer maximum freedom when setting up the drums and the ultimate stability when playing them.

Furthermore, this dual 22.2mm Tom holder system allows for a wide range of set up possibilities while incorporating additional Yamaha hardware accessories to create a configuration that’s perfect for you.

The kit features a variety of 6 durable solid and glitter finishes that are sure to stand out on stage with vibrant and stylish looks. This include Black Glitter, Silver Glitter, Burgundy Glitter, Fine Blue, Hot Red and Mellow Yellow.

The drum set is available in two different 5 piece configurations to suit a wide range of users and their musical tastes. That includes a 22 inch Bass Drum, 10 & 12 inch Toms, 16 inch Floor tom with a matching 14 inch Snare Drum and the smaller 20 inch Bass Drum, 10 & 12 inch Toms, 14 inch Floor tom again with a matching 14 inch Snare Drum.

Next up, to celebrate a milestone 50 years in the business, Yamaha Drums is introducing two limited-edition drumsets to commemorate the special anniversary.

These sets offer Absolute Hybrid Maple shells, each with its own striking finish: Birdseye maple in an amber sunburst ?nish and curly maple in an antique natural ?nish.

Each limited-edition set is adorned with gold lugs and a special laser-cut 50th Anniversary badge.

Moving on to Yamaha’s new guitar offerings, the firm has launched the A-Series, which is crafted from the ground up to be perfectly suited to life on the road.

The series features a natural, dynamic plugged-in tone and has stage-ready simplicity from the new SRT2 pickup system. It has hand-rolled fingerboard edges on a straight taper neck and a custom designed scalloped bracing pattern.

Yamaha has also introduced the SLG ‘Silent Guitar’.

The Yamaha SLG is the perfect instrument for practice, travel or stage use – any time an acoustic guitar just won’t do.

Near-silent performance makes discrete practice simple; Yamaha’s exclusive SRT-Powered pickup system gives incredibly natural acoustic tone through headphones or line-out. Studio-quality on-board effects enhance your playing to perfection and line-in functionality makes jamming easy.

Coupled with unique, striking looks and a rosewood and maple framed full-size collapsible body SLG lets you play whenever and wherever inspiration hits.

Also from Yamaha is the FSX315C – a new small sized F-Series entry level guitar with art pick-up limited to 500 pieces in Europe, the LX series, and the Variax Shuriken Line 6 guitar, which has been developed with Steve ‘Stevic’ MacKay of Twelve Foot Ninja.
