Berklee Online makes a splash across the pond with successful series of UK events

Berklee Online at Berklee College of Music held a series of successful events across the UK in the past few weeks, aimed at bringing together current and prospective Berklee students, along with leading music industry executives.

Berklee Online, which is the online extension of the world famous Berklee College of Music in the US, provides students with the unique opportunity to study from anywhere, and the next logical step for expansion is the UK.

The recent Berklee Online events included a packed-out networking brunch at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton; an afternoon of debate on key sectors within the music industry at London’s Tileyard Studios; and a rousing Liverpool Sound City debut with a panel session entitled “Disrupt or Die,” focusing on how to create a massive buzz in a crowded music market.

Commenting on the events, Jana Jackson, Berklee Online’s Senior Director of Marketing, said: “We have always loved the music that comes from the UK, and our recent trip was resounding proof that this is still the case. We’re so excited to begin this dialogue between Berklee Online and all of our offerings with so many promising musicians.”

Danny Keir, Head of Market Development, Sound Diplomacy, added: “Working with Berklee Online on their UK events was the first step in developing the conversation between accessible music education, the music industry and music practitioners.

“The value of networking and discussion around contemporary trends within music allows musicians, music professionals and students to debate freely, allowing fresh perspective and experience to collide and form more educated strategies.”

MI Pro went along to Berklee Online’s Tileyard Studios debate. The talks took place the same week as the Manchester Arena terrorist attack, so naturally, the discussions were largely about music venue and musician safety.
