Yamaha Music London launches 'Funk It Up Thursdays' to find the next funk music stars

Yamaha Music London is launching the search for London's funkiest music act.

Yamaha's flagship music store in Wardour Street, Soho London W1 will be getting funky on Thursday’s from October. Yamaha Music London is holding a series of four heats on October 19th and 26th, and November 2nd and 9th, to find the freshest talent around.

The winner of each heat will go forward to the grand finale on November 16th 2017.  The prize up for grabs is the incredible opportunity to play live on stage at Love Supreme, the three-day UK festival that celebrates jazz, soul and funk, which takes place from 29th June – 1st July, 2018 at Glynde Place East Sussex.

“Are you a soloist, duo or band? Feel good funk music creates a fusion of sounds and often crosses into different genres. Are you influenced by Funk-masters James Brown and Parliament's George Clinton or legends like Prince? Yamaha Music London want to hear your funky thing – from raw funk, soulful grooves, dance music, Latin Funk, Funky Soul, Jazz Beats to House and everything in between,” said Yamaha Music London.

The retailer will provide all the instruments for you to play, and with over three floors of instruments available, you will find everything you could possibly need.

The competition heats are free live music evenings open to everyone from 18.00 – 20.00.

Ciro Romano, the founder and festival director of Love Supreme Jazz Festival will also be on the finals judging panel.
